DIAL-A-RIDE is a Sutherlin-Oakland transportation program operated by VOLUNTEERS to provide a vitally needed service in our area.
HOURS OF SERVICE:
Monday-Friday, 8 a.m. – 4 p.m.
Last scheduled ride is 3:40 p.m.
DIAL-A-RIDE is closed on legal holidays & in the event of icy or snowy road conditions.
Where does Dial-a-Ride go?
DIAL-A-RIDE's primary destinations are: doctor/dentist offices, beauty, barber shops, banks, laundromats, Senior Center, bus connection to Roseburg, grocery store, post office and other places as deemed appropriate by the Dial-A-Ride Coordinator.
SERVICE AREA BOUNDARIES:
West to Church Road
South to Exit 135
East to North Side Road
North to and including city limits of Oakland.
NOTE: SOME STREETS ARE EXCLUDED FROM SERVICE
What does it cost?
There is no set fee, however donations are encouraged. DIAL-A-RIDE is partially funded by approximately 60% Federal grants, 30% State grants and 10% come from local contributions. ALL drivers are VOLUNTEERS and without them there would be NO DIAL-A-RIDE!
How does Dial-a-Ride work?
Dial 888-232-8121 to schedule your ride. It is possible to schedule reoccuring rides. DAR is a ride-share transportation program and rides are given on a first come first serve basis. Rides can be scheduled up to two weeks in advance.
Please call as soon as possible if you need to make changes to your ride request. If you get another ride home or need to cancel, PLEASE CALL to inform the dispatcher.
It is possible to schedule a ride on a “permanent” basis if you need to be picked up at the same time on particular days, such as senior lunches, weekly hair appointments, etc.
Rides can be scheduled two weeks in advance, so if you have an upcoming appointment call as soon as possible to get your name on the schedule.

Who can use Dial-a-Ride? Rides are given first to older adults and to those with disabilities as seats are available to the general public, persons under 18 years of age must be accompanied by an adult.
What if I use a wheelchair?
Our vans are wheelchair accessible. If a rider needs help to get to the van or in/out of businesses, etc., a companion needs to be present.

Do you have a few hours a day to spare? Volunteers who work 4 consecutive hours per day qualify for an $8 lunch reimbursement. Mileage reimbursement is an option also for those who drive more than a mile round trip to volunteer. We're urgently looking for people to volunteer for driving. Please call us!
Dial-A-Ride has been in operation in Sutherlin since 1995. The program provides rides to anyone who needs one. Donations are gladly accepted and greatly appreciated! Your generous donations are what keeps Dial-A-Ride going. The program is partially funded by state and federal grants but your donations help with fuel, maintenance, repairs and office expenses.
